Zeina Arida was born in Beirut in 1970 and was educated between Beirut and Paris. She studied Literature and Theatre at the Sorbonne in Paris and graduated in 1993.
Returning to Beirut, she was involved in several cultural projects. She has been the Director of the Arab Image Foundation since its inception in 1997 – a non-profit organisation established in Beirut in 1997 to preserve and study photographs from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arab diaspora.
Arida has also served as a Board Member of the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture since its inception in 2006.
