Chris Boot is the Executive Director of the Aperture Foundation. He started his career in photography at The Photo Co-op (now Photofusion), London, in 1984. In 1990 he moved to Magnum Photos where he became Director of its London and then, in 1995, its New York offices. He held the position of Editorial Director at Phaidon Press from 1998 until starting to produce and publish books independently in 2001.
Prizes won for books he published under his own imprint include two ICP Infinity Awards Lodz Ghetto Album (2004) and Things as They Are: Photojournalism in Context Since 1955 (2005). He returned from London to New York take up the Aperture job in January 2011.
