Sandra Byron has worked with photography for the last twenty-nine years. From 1982-1995 she was Curator of Photography at The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. Since 1995 she has founded and managed several commercial galleries specialised in Photography, including Byron Mapp Gallery and Sandra Byron Gallery.
Byron has written extensively on photography and is currently working on a number of major projects as a freelance curator, author and valuer. Her exhibition Beach, Bush and Battlers: Photographs by Jeff Carter was displayed at the State Library of NSW in Sydney in December 2010 accompanied by a book and documentary film on the artist.
