Francesca Fabiani is Head of the Photography Department of Architecture’s Museum at MAXXI_ Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, Rome (Italy). She is in charge of acquisitions, exhibitions, commissions and research projects.
She studied Art History at Università La Sapienza in Rome and moved into photography in 2003.
From 1990 has curated and organised a number of exhibits on art, architecture and photography for public and private institutions, as Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, Roma; Festival dei Due Mondi, Spoleto; Biennale di Venezia; CIVA, Centre International pour la Ville, l’Architecture et le Paysage, Bruxelles; Académie de France, Rome, MAXXI_Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, Rome.
She has published essays and articles and curated photography catalogues, including: Atlante Italiano (2007); Rischio Paesaggio (Electa, 2007); MAXXI Cantiere d’autore. Racconto fotografico (Electa, 2010) and, recently, the complete catalogue of the Photographic Collection Fotografia MAXXI Architettura: Le collezioni (Electa, 2010).
Francesca is also the author of Hendrik Christian Andersen: La vita, l’arte, il sogno (Gangemi, 2003).
She lives in Rome.
