Curator of Photographs, George Eastman House

Alison Nordström is the Curator of Photographs at George Eastman House, in Rochester, New York, the oldest and largest museum of photography in the world. She has curated over 200 exhibitions and published numerous books, monographs, chapters and scholarly articles, most recently “After New” in New Topograhics, Gottingen. 2009. “Slippery Histories: Notions of the Land and its Photographs” in Nature as Artifice: New Dutch Landscape in Photography and Video Art, Amsterdam, 2008, “On Field Work” in The Danes: Charlotte Haslund-Christiansen, Copenhagen, 2008, TruthBeauty: Pictorialism and the Photograph as Art, 1845-1945, Vancouver, 2008, and Paris Changing: Revisiting Eugene Atget’s Paris, New York, 2007.

She is the USA Director of the MA programme in Photographic Preservation and Collections Management, Ryerson University, Toronto, and is International Editor of Photography & Culture, University of the Arts, London. She holds the PhD in Visual and Cultural Studies.
