Developing and printing his own photos since he was seven years old, Niels Van Iperen (1968) was a well-known pop photographer by the age of 16, even before he started studying photography. He worked for just about every renowned magazine and record company of the era. This took him from Amsterdam to live in Los Angeles and New York in the 1990s, where he started working on advertising campaigns for the likes of Coca-Cola and Nike.
Eventually he ended up in Bogota, Colombia where he shoots ad campaigns as well as personal work, such as a book about Colombian citizens. In his development from a reportage photographer to a commercial photographer he has gone from taking photos to making photos, from real life to life re-created.
